CRYPTID COFFEE

BRANDING EXERCISE - MULTIMEDIA FALL/WINTER ‘23

This is an ongoing brand that I work on as ideas come to me. I use it to test out skills and show what I can do, using a brand, colours, and concepts that I find very fun.

The goal of this project is just for me to create an all-encompassing, well fleshed out brand design. I add to this project as I find things I want to try, or that I want to get better at.  I want to show with this project that I can design a cohesive and interesting brand from the ground up. Not a redesign, not something with any guidelines or directions to lean on, just my own design skills and ideas.

THE CONCEPT

Cryptid Coffee is an indie coffee roastery and shop with both a storefront and website. They do a lot of their marketing via word of mouth and strategic appeal to their market, so they have a lot of merch designs.

Each of their different kinds of coffee is branded after a different cryptid - an animal whose existence or survival to the present day is disputed or unsubstantiated. Bigfoot, Nessie, the Jersey Devil, and Mothman. Mothman stands out as a favourite among younger people interested in cryptids, and so is the mascot for the entire brand, not just his coffee strain.
