While I was hired for general graphic design work, the key piece of work I ended up doing for Capital Pride was the concepting, designing, and executing of the theme and assets for pride festival 2024.
From the guidebook, (which you can download and look at down below! 50+ pages would be an awful lot to fit on this site!) to signage, to nametags and tshirts, my work was visible all over this year's festival.
The main bulk of my work for Capital Pride's design this year was their event guide. While there was a hiccup in distribution this year that ended up with the guides not being available until the festival weekend, this is one of the highest visibility pieces for Capital Pride. This 50+ page guide details all the events, locations, sponsors, and just about everything you need to know for the festival period. The theme for the event actually came together incredibly easily. I wasn't working with too much, the Executive Director gave me "magic bits and repeated patterns - neon OR bright pastels - stars or sparkles - vegas feel, but not too overtly vegas-y - flashy and fun, but not all the way into gaudy and corny - lean out of the nature, and into something more... edgy? - don't lean too heavily on green" and that was the entire starting point! She more or less let me run wild on the concepts from that, though I didn't have to go too far to know what I wanted. I started with a very "90s arcade carpet" feel, which still reflects in the fun little floating doodles, and ended up somewhere in the "neon, vaporwave, party" world. And to tell you the truth? I really love it. I had so much fun with the concepts and the look, and how I would translate this theme into all the assets needed for the festival.
